Zaquan found his rhythm whilst Thanaraj shines

It was a good show of spirit from Negri players as they end their Super league campaign in a respectable manner. Despite playing in front of a hand-full of Negri supporters, the players were determined not to make it easy for Terengganu in their third place bid.

K. Thanaraj who came on for Shahurain Samah in the second half once again proved Wan Jamak’s shrewd tactical acumen of the game. The bright young winger quickly settled into his position and supplied S. Kunalan for Negri’s much deserved equaliser.

Earlier in the second half, Terengganu winger Azlan Ismail was sent to the dug-out for a professional misconduct and Negri saw that and took advantage by switching Shukor Adan from centre-half to his more familiar position just behind Zaquan Razak. Read more…

A tall order awaiting for Negri tomorrow

Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium

High-flying Terengganu is down in Paroi this weekend in the final round of the Malaysian Super League.

The Turtles, fresh from thumping Penang 4-1 on Tuesday is chasing the third place, along with Kedah and outsider Johor FC.

The reverse fixture this season in Kuala Trengganu saw the match suspended due to waterlogged pitch late into second half with the score tied at 1-1.

After a prolonged discussion between the officials, it was agreed that the match to be re-played 0-0 on the next day. Terengganu took home three points in the re-match from Manaf Mamat and Zairo Zailani’s strikes in each half.

Whilst Negri has been on a slippery slope since then, Ken Worden’s squad has grown from strength to strength. Read more…

Negri 6 UPBMyteam 2

Braces from S. Kunalan, Shahurain Samah and Zaquan Razak was enough to lift the spirit inside a near-empty Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi last night.

Wan Jamak Hassan’s boys went on riot in front of UPBMyteam’s goal in the first half to help Negri clinching their first win in six matches.

The first goal came on shortly after the kick off when S. Kunalan’s long distance speculative shot went over and behind the rookie goalkeeper in the fourth minute.

Zaquan then converted a penalty after S. Kunalan was brought down by the UPBMyteam goalkeeper in a one-on-one challenge four minutes after. Negri in-form winger, S. Kunalan again was on target after a solo run on the left to slot one in past the keeper in the 12th minute.

Negri squad is hoping to turn their luck around against UPB Myteam in Paroi tomorrow after strings of abysmal performances in the past few matches.

Captain, Rezal Zambery Yahya when exclusively interviewed by n9futbol.com today has spoken publicly to re-assure fans that the squad and management are working hard to improve their current forms.

Serious Rezal keen to put bad results behind him

“This is a matter of self-dignity as a footballer”, said the Batu Pahat-born. He added that the team recognised drastic changes has to be made in order to improve the squad’s fortune and hoping that Negri fans will be behind their back tomorrow night.

Rezal was also quick to quash allegations from certain quarters that the squad are in crises and insisted there is no off-field problems amongst his fellow team mates.

The good news for the fans is that Negri squad will be back on their full strength with the only doubt is Aidil Razak whose wife is expected to give birth soon.

Meanwhile, UPB-Myteam another club in financial turmoil are hoping to do well in tomorrow’s game with a few of their star players are being eyed by several big teams for loan moves in preparation for the prestigious Malaysia Cup this September.

MSL | Negri vs Perlis

Negri continues shambolic runs

The tosser

It was supposedly to be the night of revenge for Negri but in the end it turns out to be everyone’s worst nightmare. It is the night when everything was not in Negri’s way. Dodgy referee, two softie penalties, dodgy defending and Perlis did not even have to break a single sweat to be at four-nil up.

Rezal Yahya

Negri kicked off the game confidently and things looked promising for the wounded Rusa when their forwards consistently tested Perlis defensive lines. Asyraf al-Japri shone out the most and had a disallowed goal in the eighth minute for offside and again tested Perlis ‘keeper Farizal Marlias forcing him to tip the ball over the bar in the 20th minute.

Asyraf Al-Japri

However, the game took a wrong turn for Negri in the 27th minute when Affandy Adimel brought down Nizaruddin Yusof who fell off easily in the penalty box to earn him a spot-kick. Nizaruddin Yusof made it look easy and sent Sani Kamsani the wrong way to get Perlis a goal up at the half-time.

Both team started the second half pretty well and Nizaruddin Yusof again had a header on target just after the restart before the referee gave away another soft penalty and this time, Syukri Ismail who came in for Rahman Zabul who is injured was the victim for bringing down Shazwan Zainol. Nizaruddin Yusof again sent the keeper the wrong way to get Perlis 2-0 up.

By this time Rusa’s morale was at all time low. Mistakes were more pronounced. Passes were frequently met by legs in yellow socks, Kunalan’s movement were easily read and Aidil Razak who was single-handedly picked out by his coach for being too reckless with the ball in the past few games again sent Negri defence in a frenzy.

Futile Argument

It was a night to be for Nizarudin when he nodded in easily a cross in by Shazwan Zainol to grab his hat trick. His third hat trick this season making him the leader in Golden Boot race with 15 goals. Perlis then added salt to the Negri’s wound when Fakri Saarani beat four Negri defenders to slot in Perlis’ fourth of the match.

The fans were needles to say, furious.
The gaffer was all to blame.
Referee was at no point competent.

All the best Perlis and help them god, Negri!

Negri starting eleven against Penang FA

Negri vs Perlis
Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi

2045 kickoff

The league title chaser is down in Paroi tonight to face Negri who are suffering a loss of form in the past couple of weeks. Negri defence leaked in total of 10 goals in the past five matches and 9 in the past two weeks alone. Much have been put down to fatigue factor due to FAM’s terrible fixture arrangements and missing several key players through injuries and suspensions.

Despite suffering a humiliating defeat in Pasir Gudang at the weekend, Negri fans can bank in on their squad’s superb home forms of eight wins, two draws and no losses with averaging 2.7 goals scored and 0.45 goals conceded. However, it has to be pointed out that Perlis has a good record against Negri mostly from their league domination of late years.

Perlis squad, clouded with financial problems off the field are not without worries and concerns on it too. Against Selangor last weekend, forward Fakri Shaarani and star striker Nizaruddin Yusof were widely criticised after failing to capitalise a few clear chances whilst their dodgy defence and midfield were frequently caught out of play and nearly gave the opposition a precious goal.

the bench celebrates

Tonight, Negri are again without stopper Farizal Harun (shoulder), Zaquan Adha (knee), Halim Zainal (virus) and the latest Idris Karim who is complaining of groin strain whilst their young centre forward, Firdaus Azizul is serving two-match ban following his straight red from last weekend’s encounter. The good news is Shukor Adan is available again for squad selection tonight.

The title is out of Negri’s reach now but they still have the big say on who would win it this year. Hobin jang hobin!

Negri line up from; Sani Kamsani, Mohd Khairudin, Rahman Zabul, Aidil Razak, Tg. Qayyum, Alif Samsudin, Affandy Adimel, Syukri Ismail, Ching Hong Aik, S. Kunalan, Shahurain Samah, Shukor Adan, Rezal Yahya, Asyraf Al-Japri.
