MSL | Negri vs Selangor
Am starting off the roll from last weekend action when Negri entertained their local rivals Selangor FA. The 4th vs 2nd in the league. It was a big weekend for us Negri, fresh from losing 3-1 at the Stadium Darul Aman after being 1-0 up at half time. The game was destined to be a tight battle.
All eyes were on K Devan, the coach who guided Negri to their first Super League Trophy back in 2003 returned to test his successor’s tactical acumen, Mr Wan Jamak Hassan under the watch of PBNS President Dato’ Seri Utama, Mohamed Hassan.
In addition to that, Khairul Anuar Baharum who was also the captain who lifted Super League trophy for Negri were back in Paroi after the sensational transfer to Selangor at the start of this season. It was a test of commitment between Khairul and Shukor Adan (ex-Selangor captain now playing for Negri) and both players passed with flying colours.
The game was locked 0-0 at halftime with plenty of battle in the middle of the park and clear chances were a few and far in between. Negri star striker, Zaquan Razak had to be stretched out with a knee injury leaving Negri with no recognised striker in the 30th minute. Half-time break was much needed for Negri to re-organise their team.
The home side had a brilliant start and found their first goal after Selangor ‘keeper failed to save a tricky header from Shukor Adan and winger Shahurain who assumed as a lone striker role slotted in the ball in to the net. It wasn’t too much of a joy for Negri as Selangor begun to put more pressure on their defence after that. Selangor looked dangerous and everyone knew they were always gonna score and what a goal it was from Amri Yahya after a defence splitting through pass from Safee Ali. What a big man for a big match to steal one important point from the game.
Selangor is still trailing the league leader Perlis but everyone in Paroi knew that we might just blew our chances to challenge for the title.
