MSL Preview | Johor FC vs Negri

The battle of the yo-yos

Negri travels to the south of Malaysia this weekend to face Johor FC, fresh from 4-1 battering by Selangor FA last Tuesday. It has been a very long and dreadful week for Negri squad after their away game at Ipoh and having to travel again for this weekend’s match.

The news in from Paroi camp is that Negri will still be without their injured star striker Zaquan Razak and stopper Farizal Harun as well as Shukor Adan who is suspended for collecting 5 yellow cards.

Negri First Eleven

On paper, this look like an easy game for the Rusa squad as they have a better and more solid line-ups and historically, has never lost to Johor FC in Super League since the two clubs first met in 2001. The last fixture between these two saw Negri winning 3-0 in Paroi with Shahurain Samah scoring two goals and the other by S Kunalan. The game was widely regarded as entertaining to both Negri coaches and fans alike with Ramlan Rashid’s Johor FC persisted on their free flow football and their positive approach to the game.

Having said all that, Negri’s record on the road this season has not been at all impressive if not appalling. Recent five away matches have all resulted in losses and the squad are in desperate state to break the bad habit.

Meanwhile, Johor FC home record at Pasir Gudang should also not to be taken lightly. Earlier this season, The Bees has beaten Kelantan and Selangor 1-0 when the Red Giants was at their peak of their game with only 10 men on the field. On top of all that, they will certainly be looking for a revenge from their lost during their visit in Paroi last February.

Should Johor FC win this weekend, they will leap-frogged Negri to the fifth place and push Negri further down to the bottom half of the table.

Negri line up from; Sani Kamsani, Mohd Khairudin, Rahman Zabul, Aidil Razak, Tg. Qayyum, Alif Samsudin, Affandy Adimel, Syukri Ismail, Ching Hong Aik, S. Kunalan, Shahurain Samah, Idris Karim, Rezal Yahya, Halim Zainal, Asyraf Al-Japri and Firdaus Azizul.
