MSL Preview | Negri vs Terengganu
A tall order awaiting for Negri tomorrow
High-flying Terengganu is down in Paroi this weekend in the final round of the Malaysian Super League.
The Turtles, fresh from thumping Penang 4-1 on Tuesday is chasing the third place, along with Kedah and outsider Johor FC.
The reverse fixture this season in Kuala Trengganu saw the match suspended due to waterlogged pitch late into second half with the score tied at 1-1.
After a prolonged discussion between the officials, it was agreed that the match to be re-played 0-0 on the next day. Terengganu took home three points in the re-match from Manaf Mamat and Zairo Zailani’s strikes in each half.
Whilst Negri has been on a slippery slope since then, Ken Worden’s squad has grown from strength to strength. Terengganu striker, Ashaari Samsudin who scored a hat-trick in the last match would be hoping to add more goals under his belt tomorrow night to seal the Golden Boot accolade.
Terengganu will be without their first choice left back who is missing through suspension and Negri will sorely miss the experience of Rahman Zabul who has collected five yellow cards this season.
Terengganu has remained a bogey team for Negri and we have not beaten them since April 2007.
Let’s hope that the Turtles did not bring the weather with them.
Interview with Rahman Zabul and Shahurain Samah to follow.
